Our committment

Demonstrating responsibility – to our guests, our staff, the wider community, and towards the natural environment - is an integral part of the service excellence we seek to provide every day.

Our efforts on corporate responsibility are being led by a member of our Executive Committee. Like other hotels in the Collection, we are working to develop the systems and processes required for regular performance reporting. This includes creating a dedicated team, drawn from different departments across the hotel, to raise awareness of the issues and to drive action.

Providing top quality service all the time requires understanding and responding to the needs of every single guest. We know this, not only from years of experience, but from within; our own hotel employs more than 40 different nationalities, and we understand the need to be sensitive to their cultural backgrounds, just as we know the need to respond to the differing needs of our guests.

We carry out a range of training initiatives to ensure our staff are the best they can be. This includes efforts to increase their awareness of corporate responsibility issues.  Our procurement professionals, for example, have begun to work with suppliers to communicate our environmental and social aspirations and to ensure that they too work to the high standards we are seeking.

We were proud to host the first meeting of Dorchester Collection corporate responsibility executive committee members in Milan in October 2009. We look forward to developing our work and continuing to share our learning with all the hotels in the Collection.
